	No. 712 Research Institute subordinate to No.7 Academy under China State Shipbuilding Corporation (Wuhan No.712 Research Institute for short), located in Wuhan, a beautiful city on Changjiang River, and regionalized in Wuhan Donghu New High Tech Technology Development Zone, is one key state research institute of war industry. Formally established in April 1963and regarding it as our duty to arm our naval force with advanced & reliable technology, it has been mainly specializing in research of naval ship electric propulsion system and has made a great contribution to modernization of our national defense. At present, with a fairly new posture, our institute throws itself into the battlefield of national economic construction and therefore takes on twofold task of defending our country & promoting the development of economy.
The Research Institute has eight research offices, two research centers, four factories and two divisions. The professional scope and products mainly deal with chemical engineering, environmental engineering, new materials of chemical industry, insulating materials of electrical engineering, auto control, remote measurement, equipments of power plants, application of computers, large, medium & small type alternating & direct current machine, microcomputer motor, super conduction electrical machine, ultra low temperature technique, on-off electric appliance and all kinds of chemical power source, etc. The institute has abundant technical force and excellent conditions for scientific research & test. We possess an integration test station of international level for electric propulsion system, cryogenic & super conducting laboratory and a macromolecule chemical material analysis lab. According to the standards of GJB/Z9001-96 and GB/T19001-IS09001：1994, we have established the quality guarantee system. In 1992, we reached the standards of war industry quality guarantee system, and in 1999, passed the certification of ISO9000 International Quality System.
